In 2021, I was in Perth going to All Saints’ College. Overall within the school and out it was a successful yet stressful year, with many different obstacles including Covid-19, and injuries relating to my sporting achievements. I was rather successful with my two semesters of school as well as my sports including tennis and basketball. It was my second year in the ASC Transition Program being in Year 8. Some parts of my year were many projects inside of school ($20 Boss etc.) as well as tournaments for sporting events and many more. The Year 8 OLP was at Nanga Bush Camp, in our house group. It consisted of activities such as camping, orienteering and many more. Academically, I was accelerated with 9 other students into Year 9 Specialist, which I am now continuing on into Year 10 level. But otherwise, I was in standard level work, in which I performed well based on my report.
Feelings Over the Year
2021 caused a rollercoaster of emotions, with many different obstacles and successes. Different causes obviously including Covid-19, meant we were greatly overwhelmed throughout the year. However, there were many successes that I had. Some of these include the continuation of my high-level sporting, as well as my school reports and academics. These were some of the better parts of the year, representing good emotions. However, the obvious virus caused many upsets to all of us. It restricted all of us to less activity, which made the year worse. Overall the emotions over the year changed a lot, making 2021 very hectic.
Conclusion
Looking back on 2021, there are many things I’ve learned about myself. Some of these were my resistance when it came to all that happened in 2021, and I wish to continue on moving into 2022. About the situation of 2021, I learnt about the different impacts I could have on my relative contacts whether personal or academic. Some things I could have done differently throughout the year was remaining closer to my peers through Covid, but also when not, using the fact it isn’t there to cherish time with them. Some skills or knowledge I need to develop further looking at last year are my openness towards my peers, whether family members, teachers or my cohort. There are many ways I can improve from last year, which I hope to do this year to come.
Goals for 2022
Moving into 2022, there are many opportunities for me to improve. One of my goals is for my improvement in Humanities, to try and improve my work in areas such as history and politics. I will be able to do this, by spending more time focusing on the subject whether in class or at home. Another goal of mine could possibly be to improve my skills in public speaking, by doing more of it and becoming more comfortable. This would mean when it comes to assignments or projects when it is needed I can do it comfortably. Overall, these goals would benefit me in the areas in which I need the most improvement currently.
