What were the most significant things you learnt while completing this task?

I learnt about Alcohol and some of its effects laws and regulations around the world but specifically in Australia. For example, you are not allowed to sell packaged alcohol to minors. It can contribute to depression and anxiety and make stress harder to deal with. It can affect communication with people. It also does have a significant impact on several brain processes. Alcohol can change our thinking, judgment, perception, temperature, reaction time, mood, and emotions. Those were only a few things that alcohol can do to you. Alcohol can also make you do bad behaviour like domestic and sexual violence and criminal activity.

What one piece of advice would you pass on to young teenagers above all else? Why?

Don’t drink alcohol until you are old enough. Even though it may seem cool or your friends are drinking it might make you regret things in the future. Your friends might be posting stuff on social media which will make you think that it is cool but it really isn’t. Alcohol can affect your relationships and if you’re a really good friend with someone and your ruin that relationship your never going to be the same. It can also make you more prone to hurting yourself and other people.

Write down a pledge you will commit to if you start drinking alcohol (at the legal age of 18 years).

I will make sure that I will not drink under the age of 18 and always have at least 1 drink if I want one (that’s if I do drink). I will try not to cause any harm if I am drunk and ask for help if I am in trouble.

Why did you pick these things to commit to?

I picked these things because when I am older I do not want to do something bad because of my drinking I also want to feel secure if I do drink and make sure I have a plan if something happens. The main reason is I don’t want to hurt anyone or cause harm if I do.

How will you stick to these commitments?

I will make sure I stick to these rules by watching out for how much I am drinking. I will constantly make sure I am checking any things that might have changed and ask people to watch over me when I am.
