-What Is the Christmas Market About?-
The Christmas Market is an opportunity for year 7s to create their own product to sell with the budget of $30. My group had done watermelon body scrubs and handmade baskets. Our total profit was $82.00, and our class profit was around $337. The Christmas Market had many steps in the process, including coming up with a profitable idea that wouldn’t go over budget, the business plan, designing our logos and advertisements, and a lot more.

-Choosing A Product To Sell-
Choosing an affordable product to make and sell within budget was extremely difficult. We thought about doing a number of body related things such as soaps, lip scrubs and accessories. Although these were all very good ideas, the soaps was way over budget and lip scrubs and accessories were already being done by other groups. We decided that sugar scrubs packaged in baskets was the best affordable product to make. Once we had got our $30, our group went to the shops and got all the ingredients we needed to make the baskets and sugar scrubs.
-My Market Experience-
My market experience was not what I expected. We advertised the sugar scrubs by letting people smell the watermelon scent. This influenced a lot of people to buy them, especially senior school kids. Our baskets were extremely fragile. Most junior school kids bought them, but two came back saying their handle had broken. We immediately asked if they wanted a refund or a replacement (They both wanted a replacement). We also had to increase the price of the body scrubs from $7 to $6, as the demand was very high and we only had a scarce amount of 12 to sell. After the scrubs started selling at a rapid pace, we had to up the price to $7 again, and eventually, everything sold out ๐
-Capabilities-

Some of the capabilities I included in the process of the Christmas market was creativity, problem solving, and leadership. I used creativity in making the baskets and sugar scrubs. If there was a problem, I used quick problem solving to fix it, such as when the baskets wouldn’t hold the weight of the sugar scrub, we decided to sell them separately. Since everything we had bought was at my house, I needed to spend a lot of time working on our products because there wasn’t a day where we could all meet up, so I managed to make most of the products along with their help. The Christmas market experience definitely improved my capabilities.
