Pollution
What is pollution?
Pollution is basically any substance in a natural environment, that is harming it in any way. Pollution can come in the form of air pollution, and in marine pollution. Air pollution is when unwanted chemicals go into the atmosphere. Marine pollution is when plastic, or other bad chemicals enter the ocean, and marine life are killed.
How does pollution affect the water cycle?
In marine pollution, unwanted chemicals can go in the ocean. Then, when the water from the sea evaporates, the chemicals will be in the clouds, and those chemicals will then go down to the earth when it precipitates. This will then affect the Earth, and the people on it.
How do we prevent it, and reduce it’s impacts?
If we put some sort of large filter on top of the large plastic patches in the ocean, we could filter out the chemicals, and make sure that only the water will evaporate, and then be precipitated.
Dams
What are dams?
Dams are made to stop a river from overflowing. They are barriers made around a river to contain the water in the river.
How do dams affect the Water Cycle?
If dams are barriered, then all of the water can only be evaporated, and none of it can go through the stages of run-off, percolation, and transpiration.
How can we prevent this?
If we simply release dams, then a lot of things will be destroyed. We should just not make any more dams. We can also slowly release all of the dams, or we can build land on the barriers, so that the water cycle can go through it’s natural phases once again.
Grey Water Recycling
Grey water recycling is simply using excess plumbing water, such as water left in sinks, dishwashers, showers, baths, and then return it to your toilet, washing machine, or your outdoor sink. You can then use this recycled water for lots of tasks, such as garden watering, or housekeeping applications.
In other words, you use water from your sink, dishwasher, showers or baths, and then you use it in your washing machine, toilet, or your outdoor sink. This is saving water, as otherwise it will be wasted down the sink. This is the first recycling in grey-water recycling. Then, you can get the water from your toilet, washing machine, outdoor sink, and use this already recycled water for more tasks, such as garden watering, or housekeeping applications.
