During project Utopia I worked in a group of 3. To succeed in the project, we had to collaborate and compromise with the members in my group to create our final creation on co-spaces. Co-spaces is an online website where you can build a community with a group or team. We had to make multiple drafts on paper before getting to do our final copy online. Every member in the group started off by making a personal design of what they thought was a “perfect“ community, then we combined all our designs to make one idea that we were all happy with. We had to make sure that we had rules and regulations within our community, so we made a constitution for our community.
Our Utopia had to include liability factors. For example, we had to make sure that everything important, (like the hospitals and schools) are accessible for the people in the community. To sustain our Utopia, we had to make sure we are including factors like water and food. For example, knowing where our food is coming from and who it is being supplied from.
Throughout InnovatED we worked on the planning, research and building the final product. In English we were reading The Giver which is a book about a “perfect world”. In HASS we were researching about constitutions and we wrote one for our own community. We worked on this project for a long time so we could learn as much about our topics before the presentation night.
In our final speech we had to include how we incorporated global goals into our Utopia. Once we can explain how we have achieved the global goals within our society we could get accredited. I got accredited for 5 global goals. Good health and wellbeing, Quality education, Peace, law and justice, Clean water and sanitation, Affordable and clean energy. I learnt a lot from researching these global goals. I learnt how the global goals are used in the real world and how if we work towards them the world would be a lot more sustainable.
