Engineering Challenge Earthquake-Resistant Building

Eva and I are hoping to build a structure that would withstand an earthquake (the shaking table). This is important as testing buildings and structures is crucial to ensure the safety of humans and the overall resilience of the building, especially in earthquake-prone areas. Make sure that buildings and structures have no vulnerabilities and can withstand seismic waves. This doesn’t just save lives it also saves money used to build the infrastructure and the surrounding area and minimize damages.

The pasta project not only demonstrates impressive stability during the earthquake/shake test but also illustrates cost-effectiveness, with the implemented changes staying within our budget limit of $60. These strategic modifications didn’t just enhance performance but also demonstrated our ability to achieve engineering excellence without exceeding financial constraints.

The implemented changes in our pasta project allowed us to change our budget, enabling us to allocate additional funds for using more blue-tack or even getting more spaghetti if necessary. We cut down on the amount of spaghetti. This increased use of blue-tack significantly added to the structure’s stability, contributing so its secure during the earthquake/shake test.

Ruby (I) have been allocated Equipment manager as I am amazing with making sure our work environment is cleaned up and tidy at the end of each session and making sure equipment is in the right place it was before. I have a great understanding of where equipment in the lab is making me perfect for this role and also thinking about how much spaghetti and bluetack we need for the project. Overall I am the best for this job.

Another role that I will take part in is the Speaker as I have shown whilst preparing for tests like this one, she shows no fear of raising my hand and asking questions to Ms Dolan and my fellow students around her allowing her to be able to get the most amount of information needed to understand the topic.

Eva has been allocated Project manager this is because she believes that she has a good understanding of this project making her a perfect individual for this role. As well as she believes that she will keep our group on track at all times as she believes she has great skills in team management. Overall, out of our group, she will be the Project manager.

The final Role that Eva has been allocated is the Reporter, she believes this role would be perfect for her as she believes that she would want to make the best project and try and find the best outcomes as we can making sure that when she sees our project at the end she can truly say that our presentation would be finished by the deadline and to our best ability.
