This year has granted me the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the Stirling House year eights in the Peer Support Program.
Having been accepted into this program at the end of last year, I have since been working alongside my peers to design a series of activities specifically tailored for year eights.
Every Thursday, during tutor group, we gather with the year eights to engage in our planned activities, each focused on instilling important values such as self-awareness, proactivity, and self-esteem.
Following each session, we break into smaller groups for a debriefing session, where we discuss the activity and the skills or values utilized to overcome challenges.
Personally, I found myself drawing upon the college values of empathy, respect, integrity and courage but also incorporating some much-needed skills of teamwork, leadership & communication.
The primary objective of this program is to facilitate a smoother transition for the year eights into the senior school whilst fostering deeper connections with each individual student as well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be involved with these students and develop a genuine understanding of their unique personalities and fun-loving quirks too.
