What is the Christmas Market?
The Christmas market is a project we did in InnoivatEd and Humanities where we had to make a product to sell at the Christmas Market, where Years 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10’s buy the products we make. We also learnt about things like supply and demand, which would help us at the Christmas market.
Process
We started this process by getting into groups. My group was Ethan Chang, Jack Zhao, and Ricky Qui. We then had to brainstorm different innovative ideas of what we could sell at the market. Our ideas were:
- Key chains
- Dog plushes
- Dog balls
- Bookmarks
- Stickers for computers, mouses, etc.
- Christmas countdown
- Keyrings
- Christmas cards
- Puzzles
- Coasters
- Memory card game
Next, we had to choose our idea. We initially were going to make a memory card game. But it used too much cardboard and paper, so we didn’t do that idea. Instead, we did fridge magnets, since I have made them before and no one else was doing fridge magnets. Then, we had to pitch our idea to Ms Shaw, but she sent us back to work on our pictures.

These were the designs she approved. They were all anime related.
Then we started working on our business plan. In the business plan, we had to answer questions to make sure that our business would be innovative, the name of our business, logo, and how much of the product we will make. We decided to call our business Magnificent Magnets and we made 40 magnets.

Then, we had to do our stall design for what our stall would look like at the Christmas market.
At the Christmas market, we had to set up our stalk, and then try and get as many people as we could to buy from us.

By the end of the market, we sold only 14 magnets and made $16. This was because we sold two magnets for $2 but then changed the price to $1 because not many people were buying from us.
The Christmas market was a good example of what happens to businesses. Our stall wasn’t that inviting, which also meant that not many people wanted to buy from us. The weather also affected the number of people who actually came to the Christmas market.
This is our process of how we got to the Christmas market.
