In Health, Term 2 of 2022, we were tasked with creating an advertisement targeting young drivers about a driving issue they face. I choose to pick drink driving. During the process of making it, I learned a bunch of lessons.
The first important lesson I learnt was that over 635 people died in alcohol related car incidents in the past 3 years (in Australia) which makes me absolutely terrified. To make sure I don’t become the next person dead from a drink, I will not touch alcohol for the rest of my life (except for some dinner meals, which have small amounts of alcohol in them). I will call someone else to drive me if I do have a drink before driving, and not get in a car whose driver is drunk. I will also try to convince other drunk friends (at a party or something) not to drive themselves and call a cab. That is really all I can think of for how to prevent myself drink-driving.
My Campaign advert
If I had to give a piece of advice for young drivers, it would be call an Uber if you had a drink and you need to go somewhere. In other words, get someone else to drive you when your drunk.
The pledge I commit to would be:
I solemnly swear that I will never break any traffic laws, unless under the situation of life and death. I will never get in a car drunk, nor will I get in a car while extremely tired. Both of which I will commit under the situation of life and death. I commit to these things because I am scared of death, and will do absolutely anything to avoid it.
