This year in Health, we are learning how to drive! It’s a bit scary. As a part of learning how to drive, we have to make a road safety campaign targeting young people. I chose to focus on distracted driving, and I made a little comic!
The biggest thing I learned while completing this task was that distracted driving is a lot more common in young people than I would think. 39% of young drivers have reported texting while driving in the past month. That’s a really scary statistic.
A piece of advice I would pass on to young driver is to put your phone completely out of your sight before you drive. This makes sure that even if you do get a notification, you don’t realise. I would personally put my phone in the glove box.
A pledge I will commit to when I start driving is to always put my phone in do not disturb before starting my car. This makes sure I keep safe and focused on the road while driving. This keeps me and others safe.
This is my comic.
