- Describe three ways in which Humans have a negative impact on the water cycle.
- We take water from the ground and use it for our purposes while the soil starts to dry up because it needs water to survive and help plants live. Unfortunately, many people have taken out so much water from the ground that it has affected wildlife. This issue affects nature in areas with no groundwater, animals, plants, etc.
- Pollution affects the water cycle because when the water gets converted into rain, it may be contaminated by the community, causing people to become sick if they drink or swallow the water.
- Another impact on the water cycle is urban growth. The more people there are in an area, the greater the need for water and the more significant amount of waste produced. People use water with toilets, drinkable water, sinks, showers, etc. This all ends up in sewers, which can contaminate the water that wildlife needs to survive.
2. Describe what is meant by ‘Greywater recycling’.
Greywater recycling is recycled water that is not sewage. Once the greywater has gotten recycled, it can be used in other places that need moisture, like plants and showers. Four appliances and more use greywater in your everyday life, such as washing machines, showers, sinks, and baths. If you have used greywater properly, it can be reused in gardens and plants. When you use greywater, it saves tons of freshwater each day. Overall, if you have a greywater system in your house, it helps keep tons of water from being put into sewage and positively impacts the environment.
3. How would you use Greywater recycling in designing a more sustainable world/city in your Project Utopia?
Suppose you installed the infrastructure (greywater recycling tank). Then you put the infrastructure everywhere. You will be able to save a large amount of fresh water. If freshwater is saved, then house bills will be lowered. The Community can get more water, and less waste gets put into the sewage. Greywater will positively impact everything around you, including the wildlife, nature, rivers, etc. Once the greywater recycling has been used multiple times, it would have positively affected areas.
