$20 Boss Market- 2022 Reflection

We were involved in an experience in semester 1 of Year 8 called $20 boss which provided us with the chance to expand our continued business from home and further understand business and marketing. I decided to carry on my business for $20 Boss, Rocking Art, which involves drawing and painting rocks with interesting images combined with inspirational messages.

During this process I connected my learning to the ASC capability wheel. Some of the skills I used were organization, creativity, problem solving and communication. I also used the design thinking process when developing my objectives.

By the end of the market the total amount of profit that I made was around $750, which then 10% of that profit was donated to the salvation army.

My stall design on the market day

Semester 2

Even though I was by my self for the $20 Boss program, I still presented and pitched to my cohort. I was instructed to create a script for my presentation, including my costs, products and other information about my business. I also went through the design thinking process and the feedback part of it, as I believe that gathering feedback is an essential part of a business.

My original magnets

This semester, I decided to expand my business by introducing new original products to the market. I introduced magnets with my original art, coasters and framed paint pours. I also created a book with my artwork in it, encase anyone wanted to commission or order me to create it on a magnet or rock. My business was very set on the capability of creativity, as it included my artwork and original style, and that is what made my business and products so unique and original.

An image of my stall on market day

On the day of the market, my framed paint pours sold the best out of my products for $12. I discovered also that market placement was a massive part of business and stall design also influenced and enticed more customers to purchase products from my stall. I also found that customer service made a huge impact on if people would buy a product or go to the next stall. On the market day I had to problem solve and also stay organised with my float and other parts of the business.
