Service and Leadership

This year I was a Service Representative for semester 1, as a service representative I had several responsibilities such as attending meetings every fortnight as well encouraging and informing the senior and junior school about upcoming service events and fundraisers. I really enjoyed being a Service Representative as it helped my teamwork skills as we had to also work with older age groups as well as improving my organization skills as we usually had tasks we would have to complete as without everyone completing their part we wouldn’t be able the best result of the fundraiser or event. Last year at my old school I was selected to be part of the Student Representative Council(SRC) which consisted of four students, our job was to represent the college in various occasions as well as solving issues around the school and speaking at assemblys. Additionally last year I was also part of the Sustainability Committee, this was consisted of two students from the junior school as well as representatives from the senior school collaborating and coming up with new ideas on how to make our school a more sustainable school. Last year a few of my friends and I visited the RAAFA nursing home to provide company to the elderly as some residents there didn’t have any family visiting them. There was also a program last year from my old school called the Walton Leadership Program which required students to achieve a certain amount of points through completing service, leadership, representing the school as well through co-curricular activities then writing a paragraph or two explaining the activity and the skills involved. I achieved the award and was able to set a record for my school receiving over triple the necessary points.
