skills

shooting

During the shooting skills session we started started by shooting on the floor to exaggerate form and techniques to learn the generic shot. Then we learnt to get high on our shot. This instantly helped me shot and improved accuracy. we then further improved my shot by practicing and shooting contested. I have further improved shot over the whole elective especially for my 3 point shooting.

I have learn things such as turning your body into a foot tap for a quick release, a generally quick form, or shooting straight out of triple threat. The skill of shooting has allowed me to become more dangerous from further out forcing defender to play up opening the key for my team to cut, and also allowing me to score more versatilely. Over all I believe that my shooting has been improved the most out of all my skills throughout the specialized basketball unit.

course reflection

strapping course

In term 4 of the spec Bball unit we did a strapping course run a Zeb from sport medicine Australia, during the course we learnt how tape fingers, thumbs and ankle. Including how to restrain movement in different areas to a injury and preventing a recurring injury. I am grateful that I learnt this because I now treat a sprained ankle or jarred finger which happens quite commonly for me. In the future I think that I would the finger taping more and more for waterpolo because quite a common injury.

More speficly the buddy taping of 2 fingers to stop jarring my finger after it already injured
