This Term in Specialised Basketball we learnt lots of new useful skills, as well as partaking in courses such as the strapping course, the nutrition course and the recovery course. This has taught me a lot about basketball and I am better at the game because of it.

Skills I Learnt

Of the many skills I have learnt this term, one skill that Mr Haxby taught me has specifically allowed me to play better in my games. Learning to read my players reactions to my movements is a thing that Mr Haxby told me to do during the 3 on 3 exercises, and that really helped me in my game, as the week after I scored 14 points from two pointers, with most by watching my players reaction. As well as scoring reading my play allowed me to beat my player and draw another to me, allowing me to pass to an open player.

Courses

A course that I found specifically useful was the course on muscle fatigue, soreness and proper recovery. When the specialist in recovery came in, he taught us a lot of strategies to be less sore from exercise, and since then, I have had less soreness in my muscles after training and games. He taught us that the first most important thing was good sleep, and anything on top of that would only compliment that. Ice baths and hot showers are also things I have been doing since the course. Hopefully in the future this will continue to have this good effect on me and will allow me to recover fast.
