~Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy~

Wind power

Wind power is a useful sustainable way to power objects. The average wind turbine is about 2 megawatts. Two megawatts costs around $2.6-4 million! Smaller wind farms are much more profitable then bigger ones as big ones are expensive and it would e easier to make a profit out a smaller wind farm. Even though wind power is sustainable and turbines have been around for quite a long time, coal power is much more popular.

Wind power may be sustainable but it also has many disadvantages. The wind does not always blow so there is no power available. Even in places with lots of wind you have to first get approval in that area. If you do get approval, it is most likely to be not near civilisation and closer to wildlife. Wind turbines create sound so they can noisy and they could be a threat to the animals/planets

Solar power

Solar power is another source of sustainable power. The average cost per watt is $2.14. If you are going to be making a megawatt solar farm, then expect to pay around 3 million dollars. The average cost to put solar panels on your house is $5130. Like wind power, solar power is renewable. Solar power can also help cut power bills and is low maintenance.

What are the disadvantages of solar power you ask? Well what happens to solar panels after they where out. After 20-30 years most solar panels don’t function very well and you will have to chuck out. Some bits of the solar panel can be recycled, but the bits that can’t just go waste. Even though solar panels do work in cloudy and stormy weather, they don’t function as well. The initial cost is also very expensive.

Coal Power

Coal is a very popular source that humans use to power pretty much everything. But coal is not renewable. That means we don’t have an endless supply of coal. Coal also helps create greenhouse gases.

Coal is very reliable compared to solar and wind. It is also normally cheap and easy to get. Wind and solar do not have those factors but most scientists say that renewable energy (solar and wind) will have a better long term effect then coal or nuclear power.

~GREY WATER RECYCLING/WATER CYCLE IMPACTS-SCIENCE

WATER CYCLE IMPACTS!!

Oil spills

Oil spills happens when oil leaks into the ocean. They are extremely dangerous to humans and animal. Oils does not dissolve in water so if oil leaks in to the ocean or any other water source it becomes sludge. Oil can not evaporate and if it is mixed with water then the water can not evaporate. Water evaporation is a key part in the water cycle. Something that can prevent the amount of oil ending up in the ocean is to tighten bolts on the engines. If they are loose then the oil can leak out.

Acid Rain

Acid rain is atmospheric pollution and it causes harm to forests and lakes. Acid rain can be harmful to humans. If the acid water mixes with freshwater then humans can drink it and it is harmful. Something that humans can do to help is to reduce the amount of fossil fuels we burn.

GREY WATER RECYCLING DIAGRAM

GREY WATER RECYCLING

Greywater recycling is wastewater from plumbing systems like washing machines and hand basins. If grey water is handled safely then it can be used in the garden. Waste water that you should not use when re-using it is water from toilets. That water can be harmful. Humans can benefit from grey water recycling because it reduces the need for freshwater. It can also reduce house hold water bills. Grey water recycling is very helpful because it helps with saving water because there is lots of precious freshwater that does go down the toilet.

Adobe creative cloud express-connected learning

my logo design😀

In connected learning we learnt how to make a logo on Adobe Creative Cloud Express. I made one on a ‘business’ called awesome burgers. The first step we did was what type of logo to do. We then got to choose what title we wanted, what business it was and a slogan if we wanted to. You than would click next and you could choose a symbol. In this case I choose a burger. After that you are given a whole bunch of designs and therefore you will have to choose one. If you have an account you can edit it more and add pictures and change the colours of each thing.
