Lock – Camp

My partner and I going down a rapid

Rafting

During our 3 day camp at Honeymoon Pool, we did a rafting adventure in the white water rapids near the wellington dam. During the rafting adventure, we travelled down multiple rapids and had had to move our rafts from place to place. The capabilities that I developed during my time at rafting was collaboration and effective communication. We had to use collaboration because if we didn’t collaborate when moving the rafts or when getting the raft unstuck then we wouldn’t move. We also had to use effective communication so we could row the raft down the river. We would communicate when an obstacle like a rock or branch was in the way, we also would tell each other from what side we needed to row from and if we needed more or less so we would have a smooth ride.

Climbing

The Wellington Quarry that we climbed at

In climbing, I had to use effective communication and problem solving to climb at the Quarry near the Wellington Dam. The wall to climb had no clear path and was very slippery because of the rain. I had to use problem solving when climbing the wall because if something was too slippery or didn’t have enough grip I would try to wedge my fingers into the rock or use my legs more. I also used effective communication to assist and help my peers when they were climbing. I would recommend different grips and paths to make it easier for them to climb.
