Pre-Production: First we started to brainstorm ideas individually, I can up with my ideas such animal cruelty, peer pressure, social media and true crime. When then as a group chose on topic for our documentary and we picked true crime. Then we started researching many and came to one crime which was Chris Watts. After settling on that case, we all tried to find some information on him on the internet. When made a shared one note folder putting all our information in such as the victims ages, dates of death and pictures. At the start of we didn’t really plan to much as we just wanted to get some of the documentary started. We made a team’s chats to send through good videos that we found on YouTube such as interviews of Chris Watts and the court case.

Production: The technology that we used was our laptops and the computer to find information on the internet and which we made the documentary on. We used Google and YouTube the most to find video footages of Chris Watts and also pictures of his family. I think we used the technology good as we could find many resources on the case, and we also had a lot of variety in music to use online. What did work well was using the computer with two screens so that you could put stuff aside or have more room. What didn’t work well was when we want to use pictures of the family most of them were blurry or the graphics weren’t as good, but we did manage to find some. Something that I learnt about the process of filming was, how hard it is to make sure the music and the videos match the scene as if you use a slow music for a scary scene, it doesn’t fit well so you need to make sure you find the right one. Something that we needed to do differently was editing the videos down so that it wasn’t as boring and finding the right parts to add to make it more interesting.

Post-Production: We all found lots of information on the case and sent through pictures and videos on one note and on teams. Jasmine would be the one making the edits while me and Lucee would suggest ideas on what and how we should present it. Some functions that we used in premiere was the cut to make the clips shorter, dissolve to make the pictures fade in and out, text boxes to add subtitles for the watcher, we also added a circle around the text and made the fade in and out by using a stopwatch and adjusting the position. We also made the pictures zoom in and out and adjusted the sound so that it isn’t too loud or too low. Some other technology that we used to be finding a free download music so that we could put it in our documentary. Stuff that went well in our process was that we all had an idea on what parts we wanted to add in, so it made it clear to where we wanted it to end.

Final Evaluation: Some of the best aspects of our production would be the introduction as it was fun to make, and it also came out so good as it was intense and it had photos flashing, and the ending of the intro was their daughter saying that she loved her dad with make it sad as he was her enemy. Some areas that need to be improved would be maybe adding a little bit more information as I wanted to add some parts of when Chris watts was doing the lie detector test as it would it made the film longer and the watcher could have seen more information. We didn’t have to film anything as we found all our resources online, so it was easy to find information as it was a famous case. Something that I learnt making the production was some skills using premiere as I didn’t really know too much so as my teacher would help us and explain to us how to use it. Something that I will do differently next time would be to plan it better and to make it more in order.
