Having a growth mindset is being open to others ideas, the ability to keep moving forward and to be optimistic about others ideas. About a year ago i was given an opportunity to play on one of my school’s basketball teams. The offer was very last minute and so I had missed the training sessions leading up to the first game. At the time I was horrible and hadn’t played basketball in over 4 years which made me worry that if I did something wrong that the other members might criticise me because of it. Before and throughout the game, my friend in the team, who had been playing for a while, would come up to me and tell me some of the basic rules, skills and just give me some support. This really changed my fixed mindset of being really bad at basketball and trying to let the others do most of the work into a growth mindset where i was willing to try new things and have a go even if i would be judged.
