Some questions:

Question 1:

I learnt more skills about creating videos. For my advertising even though it was so short it took me ages to create the video. The skills that I learnt revolved about skills involving time management, because we had to do the recording on a weekend, and then my sister got Covid so I couldn’t do the recording then it severely limited the time that I could spend on this. I then had to do the internal shots inside the car, and this was done at a different time. If I wanted to make this better I would need to investigate ways of better reflecting the outside shot (ideally it would be dry when recording so I could use my ‘fancy’ camera to do the recording, and attach it to the car for a better look), this could be done by playing around with lights and attempting to record the inside shots on the same day at around the same time instead of nearly 6:00pm in late Autumn. I would also work on my script development because even though I had a concept plan inside my head for a great deal of time before starting production and I need to work on creating a script that can deal with time constraints. The original script had the idea of contrasting the tense ad with a bored narration, however because of time this couldn’t be finished. That isn’t to say that the ad is ineffective but simply that if I had more time it could be different. The other part needed is a bigger crew, as a one man band it is very difficult to direct the talent (my mum and dad), as well as operating the cameras and lights, so much so that some of the audio didn’t work. This would severely help to allow me to do more by increasing the total workload that as a group we are capable of doing. I have also since had other ideas about different styles of ads that I could have created and this includes one where you compare the existing ads about being on the phone to being treated like a baby, before ending with a message to grow up. Another could be to show a series of clips of news stories about crashes and end with the message “How many of these could be prevented?” or similar. However these would require a much larger crew or longer production time.

Question 2:

It would probably be to realise the amount of responsibility you are being given as a 17 or 18 year old, and to not abuse the privilege that you are receiving, (though to ensure that young people read it I would probably simplify the language and stick it on TickTock). Essentially I would impress upon them the fact that they are being put in charge of a killing machine and that it is up to them to make wise choices when it comes to driving the car. I would tell them this because the best way of ensuring that they become responsible drivers is through a policy of education, and that the most important education is to put in their mind the risks that they could have personally by being in charge of a car. Hopefully if tis is brought up it might open dialogue about how to be safe whilst within a car and what you can do to make your driving journey as safe as possible for all in the car.

Question 3:

I pledge to ensure as a driver that I always drive with others on the road front in mind. Whilst you may wish to say I will never break a road rule, this is naturally unachievable, but what you can pledge to do is to ensure that you never willingly break any of the rules, and that when you drive you will make sure that other people is front in your mind whilst you are driving. This includes ensuring you don’t to anything that is purposefully risky, or similar.
