Since week 2 of term 2, I have been working on my art collagraph for Ms Crimson’s class. Here is what we did:

We experimented with different textures of fabrics and even tried etching on a soy milk carton. We were then told to apply ink onto the paper/plastic/milk carton/ and wiped of the excess ink off with phone paper.

The goal was to try use as little ink as possible to get as much ink into the carvings and the fabrics.

We then soaked some paper into water and applied our printing plates along with the paper in a printing press. While in the press, the ink from the printing plate transfers to the soaked paper. The most satisfying part, was revealing the collagraph. It was very interesting to see how the ink applies/soaks in too the fabrics and the carvings of the etching.

Overall, it was a very interesting experience and I learnt a lot about different ways to create art.
