Who’s your service partner?
- Our Service partner is the salvation army, but we are moving more towards the parish because it’s moving later into the year.
What is your challenge?
- Our challenge was to help redesign the salvation army HQ, but due to Covid-19, we are conducting a food drive early in term 3. We already conduct a food perish every year so my group and I have decided to focus on the food perish instead of the salvation army.
What are 2 obstacles you faced and how did you overcome them?
- 1. Covid-19: we have been very time-pressured to get everything done because of Covid-19 and having to do homeschool we had to change what we were doing. We over cam this by brainstorming on what other things we can do to help our community.
- 2. Organization: due to time pressure we have had to be very organized in what we were doing making sure we were sending out emails and getting feedback from our teachers.
How did your team use or develop at least 2 capabilities?
- Adaptivity: Our group had to adapt to different situations that were presented along with the way like when Mr. Haxby told us we had to change the dates we had to restructure our plan so we would finish our project within the given time limits.
- Effective communication: Our group used communication well as we included everyone’s ideas and made sure that everyone knew what they were doing and when we had to finish each part by.
What did you learn from taking on this Challenge?
- Overall our group learned how to bounce back from obstacles along the way. We also improved our communication skills by making sure we included everyone’s ideas and that everyone knew what they were doing.
What did you achieve as your outcome or product?
- Our outcome is to provide a successful food fundraiser to give back to the community during these unfortunate times because we believe when given an opportunity to give back we must take it.
Are there any next steps for your team?
- Our group still needs to launch our final plan which we will be doing in term 3. The part of our plan we still need to finish includes advertising and choosing final dates.
