In week 1 of term three, we undertook a journey like no other. Becoming entrepreneurs! What is $20 boss? $20 boss is the opportunity to start and create your own small business with your friends, throughout this process you learn and grow from any challenges that come your way. I was a business partner with Tunmise. We had the vision to create bags for members of the school, to carry around their supplies from class to class. Unfortunately, we were shut down and unable to do them for the school. This did not stop us though we decided to make cotton tote bags as well as pouches and with all proceeds being donated to Cancer Council.
Capabilities:
Resilience: When faced with an opportunity like this you must be very resilient. Things may go the way that you do not want to so therefore you have to be able to bounce back and learn from the experience.
Creativity: If you want to be successful when becoming an entrepreneur, you must be creative to be able to set you apart from the rest. Therefore you must come up with new ideas and sometimes create something that has not been on the market before.
Process:
$20 boss was a very long process to be able to get, make then produce products. They had to be a good quality product so that we can produce them. Lots of time was spent hand making each bag and pouch. Our first market was very successful we sold out of all your bags making $66 of which $42 had to go back to the school. We are hosting another market on Tuesday to sell the rest of our pouches. All money made will be donated to the Cancer Council.
Summary:
Overall, $20 boss was an amazing experience. Through our ups and downs, Tunmise and I were still able to produce a product that we are very proud of. We are also very happy that we were given the opportunity to give back to our community (donating to the cancer council). This is an experience that I am taking with me for the rest of my life.
