FINN WILLIAMS

ABOUT ME!

Hi, I’m Finn. I am a committed, hard-working year 11 student who is ready to show the world what I can do. I have attended All Saints’ College for the past 6 years, and during these years, I have learned to push myself to my limits, both physically and academically. I’m an aspiring 2025 student leader, and have dedicated my life thus far to service both within my school, and my wider community. Among my most notable contributions to these areas were the 2024 TLG service tour, 2024 Surf life saving WA rise up camp, 2022 surf life saving WA TOAD camp, being a year 7,8,9 and 11 house councilor, representing the college in music through each of the last 3 ABODA exhibitions, and many other programs that I’ll mention later on.

I have many hobbies, but the one I dedicate myself to most is running. I may have asthma, but I’ve never let it stop me, and every season it gets less and less severe. From year 7, it’s eased off to a point where it’s allowed me to become much more competitive, and I upped my training, attending the school running club twice a week, which I still do to this day. I’ve taken home the last two interhouse cross country carnivals, and gone on to have consistently impressive performances at interschool carnivals, placing 10th in my age group at last year’s ACC carnival, and this year getting 19th in the opens category. Now, I’ve branched out into the WA marathon club, and enroll in almost every event for them. Last year, through my consistent dedication and high performance, I was awarded the under 16s championship, and I’m now on track to win the 16 to 19 year old championship for the 2024 season.

My surf lifesaving is also another endeavor that I heavily dedicate myself to. I hold a bronze medallion, as well as an IRB (inflatable rescue boat) crewman’s certificate. I take part in volunteer patrols every second weekend of Leighton and Port beach, helping keep my community safe. The bottom right photo shows me with my backpack, first aid kit and UHF radio, just after treating a child’s broken wrist and fingers. Later on this year, I will be getting my Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (ART), which will allow me to administer oxygen among other things, and next year I will finally be old enough to get my IRB driver’s certificate, which I am very excited for.

At home, I have 3 dogs that we look after, 2 of which are rescues. I’m currently doing an ATAR pathway, and my favorite subject right now is sports sciences. I’m still not sure what I want to do when I leave school, but I’d love to be up north. Among my other hobbies is photography, and here are some of my favorite pictures I’ve taken.

I’m also very keen on cars. I’ve got three at home, although two of them don’t run. They are a 1991 Ford F150, a 2000 Toyota Hilux, and a 1997 Ford laser, which is the one that works and I’m currently learning to drive in. They’re all manuals, as I’m eager to get a manual license as soon as possible. Even though I’ve got these, I’m always looking on marketplace for more projects. I’m very keen for an e34 m5, but I’m still a ways off being able to afford one of those.

One of my favourite service opportunities that I have been presented with during my time at the college was the 2024 TLG service tour. After a rigorous selection process, on the 22nd of June I flew up to Broome, where I was then taken to Fitzroy Crossing for the week, to assist with the education of the remote community school situated there. It was an incredibly eye – opening and unique experience unlike anything I’ve ever done before, I feel like I formed incredible bonds with each one of the amazing kids I had the privilege of teaching during that week. We also had the opportunity to visit incredible sites, both tourist-friendly and custodian led, like fishing on the banks of the Fitzroy river, and touring the Mimbi caves. This experience has inspired me to become an EA for this school after I finish year 12.

It’s been an honour to contribute to the college in so many ways throughout my time here, through athletics, academics, leadership and other pursuits such as the college senior wind ensemble, and here’s hoping that I have the opportunity to continue this into next year! I’ve currently put in applications for 4 different leadership roles for year 12, and It’s my hope that I’ll have the privilege to represent the college and be a role model to my peers further through whatever role the college bestows on me, if I’m deemed to embody what it means to be a leader, and an all sainter.

The RAC be streetsmart excursion was incredibly informative and hard-hitting, and taught me that it is crucial to recognize the inherent risks associated with certain actions while operating a vehicle, such as driving while fatigued, under the influence of alcohol, distracted, or speeding. It showed me that engaging in any of these behaviors can lead…Continue Reading RAC be streestsmart excursion
