Gianni Mirco

Hi, I am Gianni Mirco and I’m in the Class of 2027. I am a kind and funny person that has a passion for soccer. I enjoy playing soccer because it is fun and I play with my friends. At school Mathematics, Sport and Science are three of my favourite subjects, although I really do enjoy all other subjects because I like to learn, discover and expand my knowledge. I am surrounded by a great bunch of friends and we always have a laugh and a lot to chat about. I am looking forward to the new learnings opportunities in the Senior School and I can’t wait to meet all the new kids joining our year.

I have a sister, Ariana she is 8 years old and two lovely parents, who are supportive and encouraging of me. As a family we play heaps of board games – competitively, enthusiastically and strategically, together we enjoy playing a variety of games including card games. I have started reading the Percy Jackson series written by Rick Riordan, and I am loving it because it is adventurous and it’s so well-written that I can picture the scenes. I would recommend this book to someone who is between 9-13 and likes adventurous stories.

Me reading Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief 🙂
Let me explain all the games to you, starting in the top left we have Scrabble, normal rules try to get the most point. Next we have Articulate, this is where the players work together to answer the most number of questions, your partner picks up a card and they will have a subject and they describe the word so your partner can guess it. Then the Game Box, which you have to answer a question with a given letter. Next is Dragonwood with your cards you capture animals and aim to build up your points. Big Bash Smash is a cricket game involving bowling and batting to score the most runs. Escape room gives you clues to help you complete the given task. Below we have Rummy-o which involves placing all your tiles in runs. Then Monopoly which everyone knows how to play, this is the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup version. Then Cluedo solving murders by asking questions of your opponents. Then the game with the Chinese temple is Chinese checkers, this game involves moving your marbles to the opposite side my making moves, it uses strategy. The yellow small box next to monopoly is Numero, and I recommend it for everyone who loves maths. Lastly, in the bottom right we have Pandemic which is a game that you work together to try and eradicate four diseases. I would recommend all these games for everyone, Enjoy!

My real passion is soccer, I have recently been awarded a position in Melville’s U11 academy program for 2022. I also play futsal, or indoor soccer, which I really enjoy and it helps to build my skill for outdoor soccer. I love to play soccer because I enjoy it, it’s fun playing with my mates as I have grown up playing soccer thanks to my Dad.

My Achievements

Over the 6 years playing soccer I have accomplished many things, such as winning the Copa Italia, the Armadale Cup in 2019 and finishing second last year together with winning a Summer 5 aside tournament in 2020 and placing runners-up in Social League Futsal last year.

Did You Know that I have 3 crowns in my hair🙀😯

I am someone who likes spending time with friend (playing soccer or just hanging out and chatting)

I am happiest when I play soccer.

Whether in the classroom or on the oval I bring a big smile and some magic to cheer people up and make them laugh

My interest in Math’s draws upon my strengths to problem solve.

[Collaboration]

I am a kind person that is a good collaborator, I work with my partner in an effective way. Over this year I have had to work with many people, both year 5 & 6’s. In a group I contribute and keep my group members on task, I am a good listener and allow everyone to speak when in a group.

[Problem Solving]

I am an effective problem solver and can overcome most challenges that I face. I can problem solve as a group or by myself, I have a never-give-up attitude when I face a problem. Winners never quit and quitters never win is a quote by Vince Lombardi, which reflects most of my weekends. My Futsal team have transferred into the Saturday league which is the Junior State Futsal League. We have 4 others teams with us, and we lost our first four games by over 7 goals, when I put this quote into mind we manage to lose our next game 4-2 and we were up 2-0 at half time. A challenge strengthens our inner mind.

[Organisation]

I am very organized at home and at school. I am efficient at handing in homework on time and always charge my computer the day before. Organisation is one of my key skills that I use everyday. I look at my timetable each day to know what is going on and write my homework checkpoints in my diary.
