Stand Out Media is a video-editing company that specialises in making promotional videos. So to validate our product, we needed to get a video done. We came up with the idea to make a promotional video for Durack Donut Day, so we quickly emailed Mr Hill to start working on his free promotional video.
Sadly, because of me having COVID and other things we weren’t able to finish the video by September 2nd, which was when the product validation was happening. We made a survey which was going to be shown to everyone who turns up at our stall so they could tell us if they think this is an idea worth pursuing.
During our product validation, I was told that no one came up to our stall, which was fine as our product is not for the general public like parents and students. Still, we didn’t have any feedback and we were running late on our video for Mr. Hill. We ended up getting feedback from Mr. Mayhills and the rest of the class on our idea, and they seemed to like it so we stuck with our idea of Stand Out Media. This was basically our product validation as we can’t really advertise our product at a Wanju market or at Runway as our product is not for the general public.
When I came back to school on the 5th of September, my partner and I started filming our promotional video with help from another year 10.
The actual filming for our video went very smoothly, we finished most scenes in 1 or 2 takes. We finished filming in ~20 minutes. In the future, we are going to start charging $20-$40 per video so this is turning out to be a very profitable business.
Back in class after we filmed we held a focus group on our video, the only critical piece of feedback we got was, “the music doesn’t fit”, which seems to be a very preferential thing because I think the music is perfect.
