Reflection on a Skill

One of the skills we learnt in Spec Basketball was learning how to shoot the ball with correct form. We learnt how to shoot using the BEEF method, B for balance, E for elbow, E for eyes, F for follow through. One big pointer when shooting is never use your palm of your hand to shoot, as this reduces power and control of where the ball will go. This skill took me quite a while to learn, as I had developed bad habits playing basketball when I was younger, but learning this will dramatically improve my basketball ability. I have been implementing this skill in every basketball game I have played in as in most games I play in I put up multiple shots.

Reflection on a Course

One of the courses we did in Spec Basketball was a strapping course, where we learnt how and when to strap different parts of the body. We learnt how to strap fingers, thumbs, as well as ankles. This will positively impact my life as I, not a basketball player but soccer player have gone through many rolled ankles, and learning how to strap/tape my ankle to prevent further damage, will not only help me get better faster, but with also allow me to strap my own ankle instead of harassing my Mum to help.
