This year during the Year 9 Kalbarri camp, we had to hike through the gorges and bush. Through this camp, I increased my capabilities of leadership and teamwork because we had many opportunities to display them.

Two times I could display teamwork and leadership were during the distribution of supplies before our hikes and the preparation for dinner. When we had to distribute supplies, I offered to take as much as I could take. This meant that we could finish packing faster and made it easier for other people because they would have lighter packs, showing my ability of teamwork.

Additionally, when making the shared group dinners, I took charge and led my group for the food preparations and cooking so that we would have a dinner to eat. We had to assign tasks for each member like collecting the food, chopping the ingredients and preparing the Trangia. This meant that we were able to set up and pack down really efficiently, giving us more free time and made it a great experience to work alongside my friends. This is how the Kalbarri camp helped me exemplify my ability to work in a team and show leadership. Overall, it was a really enjoyable camp and I had great fun spending time with my friends and peers.
