How did you come up with your original ideas?
Sam and I paired up with Dylan to brainstorm all sorts of different ideas, like greek gods, umpiring, and WNBA.
What did you take inspiration from?
We took inspiration from YouTube and Netflix for ideas, and the documentary we saw in class ‘The King Of Kong’ for comera angles and documentary styles
What other ideas did you have for the production?
We considered umpiring, greek gods, and the Greatest of All Time in NBA based on statistics.
Why did you decide not to use these ideas?
Mainly because of the fact that it would be difficult to find someone to interview.
Who did you discuss your idea with and what feedback did they
give you?
We pitched our idea to Ms Wellington, and she gave some feedback on how to improve and refine the idea.
Write one sentence summing up the final idea that you decided to
use
Why are women almost entirely unable to play in the NBA and who are the exeptions.
Summarise the effectiveness of your brainstorming/idea
development phase. What should you have done differently and
what impact would this have had?
We could have dived deeper into what specificly we wanted to do, not something so broard.
What pre-production planning documents did you create?
We made brainstorms individually, then combined our best ideas.
How were these pre-production documents beneficial to your
overall process?
It makes it easier for everyone to research something they want to, and also ensure everyone knows what is happening.
Were there additional documents that you should have created?
A plan on what we were going to do each lesson.
What technology did you use to create your production?
We used the cave, greenscreens, cameras, microphones, lights, and computers and premier pro for editing.
Describe some ways that you used this technology and what
effect did this have on your production?
The cave was useful as it had greenscreens, cameras, microphones, lights, which were all the things we needed to make a high quality video. We used premier pro and computers to edit the footage taken in the cave to turn it into a proper documentary.
Evaluate your use of technology.
We used the technology effeciently and effectively to make a high quality video.
What worked well?
The cave was really useful for all the euqipment we needed. Premier pro was super effective.
What didn’t go well?
We had trouble with the greenscreens and the lights, but the final product didn’t show this so its not too much of a problem.
How could you have improved your use of technology?
We could have asked for help on how to use and prepare the lights correctly so the greenscreen was more effective.
What did you learn throughout the process filming the production?
The lighting is super important for the greenscreen to work properly.
Describe how you edited your project together?
We first deleted the footage we didnt want/need, then cut the ends of the footage we had left off. We then tied them all together, and inserted the visual components and audio features required.
What functions in Premiere did you use?
We used premier pro for layering images and video and audio components, as well as using the greenscreen feature.
What other programs/technology did you use?
We used teams and the cloud to upload the files, as well as yt2mp4 to convert youtube clips into mp4 files.
What went well throughout the process?
We had all the clips we needed so there was no need to rerecord anything, yt2mp4 worked really well, and the interview was really good.
How would have done things differently to improve this process?
We would have used the greenscreen in a more proffesional way, as the lighting issue made it difficult to use the greenscreen effect in editing.
What are the best aspects of your production?
The interview and the b-roll.
What areas needed to be improved?
The greenscreen.
What did you learn from making the production?
Lighting on greenscreens is so much more important than you think.
What will you do differently next time?
Plan further, use better lighting on the greenscreen, and make a more informative script.
