Leadership Camp

As a newly elected leader for 2024, I had the privilege of being involved in this years leadership camp, run by Ms Tan, Mr Kes and Ms Watt.

On the first day, we spent the day with purposeful in the hangar. We got the opportunity to reflect on why we wanted to be leaders, and to ask questions to a panel of leaders in their respective professions. We also had to act out scenarios using key values, which allowed us to consider what our main values will be as leaders. All of the activities we participated in were engaging and allowed us the opportunity to switch up who we were working with in order to get to know other leaders.

At around 2:30pm we hopped on the bus and headed off to Dryandra. After a 3 hour bus ride, we arrived at our gorgeous campsite which is where we would be staying for the next two nights. We were given a lot of free range around the campsite, and we were all involved in helping to organise dinner, cleaning up and participating in activities. Some of the highlights of the camp were playing camouflage at night with a giant flashlight, singing around the campfire with Mr Kes playing his guitar and getting to know the other leaders we were spending time with. We participated in a number of teambuilding activities including playing keepy-uppy and a group game of dodgeball. We were given the opportunity to plan activities for next year with our respective council and come up with vision statements.

Overall, the camp was magnificent! We had a fantastic time hanging out with each other and exploring Dryandra, and I am extremely grateful for all of the effort that was put into this camp by the teachers! It was perfectly planned to allow us to develop our leadership abilities and to plan for next year.
