Drawing and Painting
This semester I chose to do drawing and painting as an elective for art. As well as helping me to improve my artistic skills in terms of drawing and painting, this course also gave me an opportunity to work on specific organisation skills such as time-management and thinking skills such as problem-solving. It was important to be able to stay organised and manage time well as I’m in a split class sharing with year 9s. Year 10s have a couple less weeks of school then the year 9s so we have to manage our time to make sure we are able to finish our painting in the time we have. Managing my time not only meant making sure I met the deadline to hand my painting but also making sure I wasn’t falling behind with other written work. I had to use problem solving skills to solve problems such as the paint drying too quickly or me not being able to reproduce the same colours I had previously used, and had to think of ways around these issues. I think my work was successful, as I did the best I could on it and I don’t think that even if I had more time I would of been able to improve it. This elective was one which allowed me to both improve my capabilities and skills whilst also having fun.
