For our first task in photography, we had to create a faceless portrait, creating a portrait of ourselves without showing our face. For my faceless portrait I used the screen of another camera, which Milly was holding, to then take the faceless portrait of myself by using the camera taking the picture to block my face.
I like this as I think the idea and creativity of it is pretty nice and was a different take on a very similar idea to others in the class. I also like how the picture is focused as it really draws your attention to part of the picture that is actually the faceless portrait as the rest of the picture is blurred.
However, if I was to re-take this image I would try and make the background less blurred as I feel that it can be confusing at times on what to look at in the image as the burred part is larger than the actual focus of the image. I also feel that I should either straighten the image or make it more slanted as I feel that the framing of the picture is slightly off, being in an ‘in between’ phrase – not quite straight but not slanted enough to be slanted, making the overall picture slightly confusing to look at. Straightening the image out would aslo help draw the eye to the focus of the image and would allow me to use my knowledge of the rule of threes and to demonstate that in the knewly taken picture. Doing this would also up the skill level needed to take this picture as I would need to spend more time and effort taking the time and care to properly frame the image and focus the camera, for example making sure that the whole camera is in shot and not cutting it off like what is seen at the top and on the right hand side of the image.
A cleaver ideas, love it.
