Woodwork reflection by Kenneth Kim

In this semester, in woodwork we made a LED trophy, which was challenging to make and had problems to go over, I learned a lot of things while making the LED trophy.  the LED trophy was made from wood and acrylic which we polished the sides, cut the acrylic into size, solder the lights and construct all the pieces together. For the project, the wood was chosen by us and cut into size after cutting into size after preparing the wood we chose our acrylic colour and sanded the sides to get a smooth feeling. Once we did those, we got our see-through acrylic and after sanding it we laser printed the image which made the trophy look nice, after that we soldered the light to the batteries. Then we put all the components together. Learning how to work the machines was a good experience so I can use them in the future.

My experiences of woodwork were mainly linked to problem solving and that I grew in this capability more than the other capabilities. One of my experience of problem solving is when my top plate was not the right size to fit my acrylic design, the way I fixed it was filing the inside until my acrylic design fit inside the top plate. Another problem I overcame was when I screw the screws on the bottom plate wrong, the way I fixed this by making by drilling one screw in then drilling the other screws in place making adjustments and checking the bottom plate fits. This capability was linked to my work because I had problems which I overcame and fixed.

Overall, this project was fun and challenging to make and I learned a lot from making the LED light like how the machines work and how I can work them to make something. I would probably do woodwork again and learn more things.
