What is this?
Connected is a yearly event where College Staff, Students and Nulsen members, Old Saints’ And many more community embers contribute and create artwork on canvases that get entered in an auction. All the proceeds go towards the Nulsen Group to support people with diabilities etc. This year’s theme was “Year of the Ox” But I had the option to go with my own theme which is what I did.
What I did
I worked on a canvas that was more my own subject. I decided to work with a palette knife and bland-coloured acrylics as I wanted to go for a more old and weathered style. I decided to make my main object in my painting a broken antique teapot and teacup with eyes and flesh-like material. This projected my memories of the past as old and forgotten antique items always gave me worried as I was always worrying as a younger child I would break them. The eyes represent judgement from the past generation to the future generation as they see how they are changing the world be it good or bad. I named this piece “Fill my Cup” To make it simple to the fact that the centre object is a teapot and cup.
