In 2021, I was voted to be one of the JS Forrest House Captains, alongside Diyon Etampawala. This opportunity taught me how to be a good leader and collaborate with others to make something much bigger happen. Throughout the year, the leadership team were able to pull off some amazing events, including the highlight of the year, a house team-building day with a giant waterslide! Being a captain also brought along many other opportunities, like attending a leadership conference at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, where different guests taught us about the importance of being a good leader, as well as how to be one. We were also allowed to speak to the years 3-6 at assemblies about a chosen capability (which was the theme for that year), which allowed us to interact and inform our peers about the capabilities and their effect on the world. At the end of the year, Diyon and I also wrote an article for the All Saints’ College yearbook (the Columba) which you can read HERE on page 20.
