Kayaking

For this unit, we went to shelly foreshore every Wednesday for the double period. My goal for this unit was to get rid of my fear of the river and ocean this did not work I got a bit confident but not entirely. During this unit, we learned how to put on a squirt while out of the water and take it off underwater. We also learned how to use the different paddle motions and built up our long-distance stamina. We never really had a bad day some weeks we didn’t get to go out due to the teacher not being here but it was never due to the weather. There were so many jellyfish and the occasional black swan which was very cool to see that much wildlife in one spot

Rock climbing

This was one of my favorite units to do because it was so fun and I gained so many friendships. In this unit, we learned how to safely tie a rope, put a harness on, and put carabiners on us. During this unit the challenge was to get high as

you can this may seem easy but when you’re up there it’s much higher than you think and then you have to trust your life with one rope. As we kept doing this we got better and better and some people started to get all the way to the top which was amazing to see the improvement.

Bush Cooking

This unit we are still doing and it’s fun but very hard, you have to make sure that you have enough time but that you cook everything because sometimes the things we cook would come out too fast and wouldn’t taste as nice. The other hard part is the Leave No Trace rule this rule makes sure that we leave the space the same way we came and to make sure that none of the wildlife can make unsafe habits that can kill them. These habits can be when you feed the animals they can think that they can food from every human that comes and forget about finding food themselves. This unit has thought me how to be sustainable and keep the environment clean.

Nots and Ropes

This unit thought me how to tie a rope and how to use these ropes in activities not just giving us the skill and not telling us when to use it. This unit was very hard to learn but when you got it, it was nice to finally be able to do this correctly. During this course you could do the task but also have a chat with other people and that’s what made the course so much better than most because you can pass the test but also make some new friends.
