When constructing my amulet, I was cautious in planning when each component would be completed. For example, I gradually drew a final sketch so that I could sculpt the soap, cast moulds, and pour resin. This allowed me to experiment with several simple colour approaches on my testing amulet, as well as finish any things I wanted to adjust with the colours (mixing colours together). I experimented with several colour schemes before settling on the one I sketched at first, since it was more pleasing to me. I handled my time properly, ensuring that I had enough time to complete my amulet. I also restricted my distractions, allowing me to fully focus on my amulet and ensure that everything could be completed.

Creating amulet designs wasn’t simple; I wasn’t sure what to do or where to begin. So I researched up different amulets designs online to get ideas. I initially drew a few basic designs but was still unsure how to make it seem decent. My major influence was an eye, as it may resemble an evil eye while also having my own individuality. I eventually conceived the idea of having a more human-like eye design, so I added eyelashes and an oval shape for the eye. I had to generate a large amount of sketches since I didn’t know where to position it or how large I wanted it to be on the amulet.

There were several errors that occur while making my amulet. Since the soap is so delicate, it crumbles easily. When carving the soap, I had to be accurate and careful. Another difficulty I encountered was that the clay slid off as I was making a mould for it since the water caused it to slip off, so I had to put additional clay on to correct this. Another challenge was smoothing my resin amulet, which kept chipping off parts, so I had to do it gently and slowly for my final piece. The resin casting and painting of the amulet proceeded smoothly. I had no difficulty casting resin since I simply followed the directions, and everything worked well. Painting my amulet went well because I already had a few concepts in mind, and I just experimented with different colours of purple because I planned to use purple.

My final design was successful since it resembled my sketch. The colours blended perfectly and were eye-catching.  I believed my amulet looked good, I added glitter in the centre, so in the eye area. Overall, I believe I did a fine job at creating and designing my amulet. I followed all the proper procedures while making my moulds and casting the resin, so that my final sculpture turned out well. I also used a light brown string to contrast with the gold and purple paint.
