This year camp was much different than other years because it required a lot more teamwork and leadership. I think that I did quite good in these aspects because throughout the whole camp I put leadership in my mind and made sure that I did things like take more food than others in my backpack and I also went to the front of the line when we were hiking up and down the gorge. teamwork was also a very big component of this camp because if we didn’t use it and were out of sync this would mean that someone could get injured. a way that we solved this was when we were hiking we made sure to call out if any rocks were loose and then 1 by 1 the person behind would tell it the person behind them. another example is that required teamwork was making our tent and putting it down and cooking our food at dinner. this all required teamwork because if we weren’t concentrating on you and everyone else everything would be much harder and time-consuming which is the last thing that you want to do. there were also many skills exhibited to us like how to tie different variants of knots and how to put on a harness correctly. my favourite skill was learning how to put up a tent because this can be used in the future like the outdoor education camp. The final thing that I think I improved on would be my endurance on long drives like the bus drive there and back. This is good to be able to deal with because I used to get very motion sick and being able to withstand longer drives helps with that a lot. I went on in week one. these are just some of the skills that were shown to us but they were also some of my favourites.
