Renewable Recourses Efficiency Compared to Coal

Renewable sources

Solar power– Solar power is the most renewable source of energy. The two types of solar energies are PV (photovoltaic) and thermal. PV is where the sunlight shines on the semiconductors instantly generating electricity while thermal solar energy is where the sunlight provides heat giving the option to either create electricity or use it for heating purposes. The three factors that restrict how much this source can provide is based on your location, season, and time of day

Wind power-Originally wind power was used for pumping water or milling grain but is now more commonly used for electricity. The regular wind power station is called a wind turbine, this massive monument has several blades attached to a generator that creates electricity. The three factors that affect this renewable energy source are bird disruption, noise, and excessive land use.

Tidal power– Tidal power is a type of hydropower. Tidal power is based on the tide moving in and out and spinning different blades that power the generator. Tidal power generates more than wind because of how much denser water is compared to air. The two restrictions of tidal power are the tide must change by at least 5 meters and the plants are restricted to coastlines in specific areas.

Coal power– Coal power is a Non-renewable source that releases carbon dioxide which is harmful to the environment. Coal power is mainly burning coal to create steam that rotates a turbine creating a large amount of power.
