Year 8 English Reflection

  • Confidence

My confidence in English this year has grown this year a lot since the start of the year, I have gone from failing my first test to averaging about 60% per test. When I walk into a test I am prepared because I studied 3 days in advance. I’m not freaked out, I know what I am doing.

  • Marks

My marks this year have gradually gotten better. I failed my first test and have only improved my marks since then. Excluding the first test, my new average is 64%. I have taken feedback on board and applied it in upcoming tests

  • Involvement

I have been trying to ask more questions when I get stuck on something. After each test, I look at the feedback and try to apply it in the next test.

  • Collaboration

This year we have only had one collaborative assessment. During this assessment, we had to talk and share our ideas about how we will produce this piece. We combined our scripts to make the best possible one. We brainstormed many ideas and slowly started to make our final piece. We collaborated well overall and were able to make a good final production.

  • Learner Agency

???, letting students take over and control their own learning sounds great. Letting students learn what they want to learn is great as it inspires students to learn things that they will use in life because they know what they are going to do when they grow up. By following through with this process I believe that this will create more powerful opportunities and benefit the students

  • Organization

Since the first test I have studied 3 days before the test so that way I am well prepared and once the test starts, I know what I am doing. By doing this I have continued to pass all tests and achieve a happy result. I have handed in all assessments and turned up to all tests on time so far. I have notes typed up from each lesson, I look back on these notes on the days upcoming to the test.

  • Skills Upskilled

My skills in English have definitely improved as now I am trying to use more descriptive words which convey my ideas better to the reader. I can work better in class and get more work done compared to the start of the year.

  •  Goals and Challenges

My goal since the start of the year was to improve my marks, I feel like I have achieved my goal. Throughout the year, I have faced many challenges, but I have overcome most.
