Outline of my basketball: A sport that I enjoy playing is basketball and I play that in an 8-man team. My Basketball team is made up of 8 players including me which are Ben Mah, Connor Attwater, Ethan Walsh, Shyam Kanagalingam, James Walker, Hassan Zuhair, Daniel Chee and me. We have training every Monday from 4.30 until 5.30 and we have our games after school on Thursday’s. Basketball is a ball game and team sport in which two teams of five players (and more on the bench) try to score points by throwing or “shooting” a ball through the top of a basketball hoop while following a set of rules. Basketball is a non-contact game that almost anyone can play, and basketball is very popular and well known. It can get competitive sometimes but is a very fun game to play once you know how to play it.
Skills/Team-skills: In basketball, leadership is an essential element of teamwork. The whole team plays a part, especially the coach. In my league, some teams have some awesome talent on the court but there is a lack of leadership and teamwork in that team and everything falls apart for them. Teamwork and leadership are what makes a team a team, which keeps the team together. In my team, we have leadership for various roles that makes up the team. Daniel, Shyam and I are the main ball handlers, Connor, Hassan, and Ethan are our main re-bounders, Ben throws the ball in and keeps the team together and James is our main ball defender. Everyone playing these roles makes up the team and they help the other in areas where they struggle which is showing leadership and all together teamwork. One thing that displays a lot of teamwork is playing for the name on the front of your jersey (your team name) and not the number on the back (your jersey number). A way that I reckon my team can show more teamwork is catching up together as a team that isn’t on our training or game day. Teamwork and leadership are what sets the winning teams apart from all the rest.
