Semester 1: Concert
In semester 1, I was apart of 3 dances in the concert. The can can, from the ashes and the military piece. The can can and from the ashes pieces were both choreographed by Ms. Hegarty and we practiced them during our class elective time. The military piece was a student led piece choreographed by my sister, Olivia Halliday. From the ashes was a contemporary piece and the can can and military piece were both jazz. I really loved all of the dances but especially the jazz ones as I think that they are more fun and I have done jazz outside of school, so I found them easier.
Semester 2: Showcase
In Semester 2, there was a dance showcase in which students can choreograph dances and perform them. I was in 3 of the dances in this, One (a Broadway jazz), origami piece (contemporary) and Fire on Fire ( contemporary duet). The pieces One and Origami were both done in class, One was choreographed by Ms. Hegarty and Origami was choreographed in small groups. The groups were mixed 9/10’s and were randomly chosen. My small group all contributed and brainstormed the choreography for this piece and it ended up looking really good. We used folding movements to represent origami. Fire on fire was a duet I did with Amelia O’Keefe and we choreographed it in only 4 weeks. My favourite one to do was probably One.
