Robotics Update (it’s been a while)

I haven’t made a post about Robotics in a while, and I really should’ve. There’s a lot to get through, here goes…

I have been through two teams:
The YANGBINGBONGS (I left because my teammates rarely showed up to Robotics)
And an unnamed team (I left because of the same reason)

Back in 2020, Aiman Fayyaz and I left the unnamed team and teamed up with William Carruthers, to form S.A.W Robotics. William and Aiman built the robot, I coded it. We named it Bill. Its goal was to participate in the Search & Rescue Secondary Division. To put it simply, the robot had to follow a line, navigating obstacles along the way, and then find a “search capsule” and remove it from “danger”.

Recently, we competed in the Metro Division. We worked very hard to create a working robot. On the day, it was very chaotic, as I had to also attend a drama rehearsal at school at the same time. We almost didn’t make it, but we managed to get Bill ready. Despite this, we hadn’t had enough time to code in the “Rescue” segment.

Our robot tackled 4 different courses, performing very consistently (though we lost points on the Rescue bit every single time). Finally, the competition ended, and to our absolute surprise, we won the Secondary Division! Because of our consistent results, we scored enough points to have a comfortable lead over all the other teams. All our hard teamwork had payed off.

Unfortunately, we cannot properly attend Robotics States, as we are on Year 9 camp. But, we will come back next year and do our best!
