Hello! My name is Senuka Jayasekara, and I am a Year 10 student of All Saints’ College, proudly representing Durack House.
If you asked me what is one thing you can rely on me for, it is to give everything my best shot! Once, my father told me that “accomplishment is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”. Therefore, one of my core mantras is to never give up and always do my best.
I am passionate about learning, and I enjoy playing the piano and the guitar. One of my favourite things to do is to compose music. My other hobbies include reading and model building, and I love swimming and team sports, especially soccer. I have also enjoyed participating in many cocurricular clubs and music ensembles, including All Saints’ Leo Club and Robotics Club. I love to code, and I hope to make a proper game someday. I also like to do service for the college whenever I find time.
All Saints’ College has taught me that identifying your strengths and goals is essential in life, encouraging us to “Live Your Why”. I pride myself in my collaboration and leadership, helping me be a team player or a leader depending on the situation. For example, in the school project 20$Boss, I constantly cooperated with my team to have an efficient workflow. However, if my team needed to be pointed in the right direction, I stepped in and advised them on what to do.
I am also an adept problem-solver, as I always try to find a solution for any complication in my way. I find different ways to reach the end goal, design new ideas and work around the problem. This means that I need to be resilient, so that I don’t give up easily. Whether I am completing a project for service or writing an essay for an assignment, I will always strive to reach the end. I feel this has made me an all-rounded person and a dedicated student.
The College, from the staff to my friends, always provide me the support and guidance to achieve. In Year 8, I was presented with the Year 8 College Medal, an achievement for a student to carries out the college’s values. I am also honoured to be a Durack House Councillor for the past two years. I have also had multiple achievements in academics, including Learning Area Awards in English, Science and Design & Technologies. I have only been able to achieve these things due to my parents’ loyal efforts, my teachers’ unwavering guidance, and my friends’ kindness.
I wish to pursue a career in Medicine. This will require an ATAR of at least 99 with suggested prerequisites of Chemistry and Maths Specialist, and a suitable UCAT score. I would need to complete a Bachelor’s degree, preferably something related to medicine, complete a postgraduate degree for Doctor of Medicine, complete junior doctor training and then move to becoming a specialist. I plan to work dedicatedly towards this goal.
I look to the future for the next chapter of life to unfold, and for the next collection of challenges and experiences.
