On the 26th of October, the Year 7s held a Christmas Market as part of their economics assessment. zwe were focusing on creating a business that sold products to raise a profit. My team members were Joshua, Taryn and Louis.
I thought that the Christmas Market went really well for our group. We worked really well as a team and sold all our products. Our key skills included teamwork, communication and critical thinking.
One thing I wished we did was pick a more unique product for us to market. We were vetoed by Ms Winter on different designs, so we kept it simple and stuck to Christmas Ornaments with slight unique features, like magnetic backs and keyrings. I originally thought we should do lasercut notice boards with magnetic backs and felt surfaces, but our team voted against it. While it might not be all that a good idea, it was something unique and different from the other teams. If we had though of an idea that was original yet cheap, we might have done even better.
Our team members worked very well. Joshua, Taryn and I got on very well together, but Louis was somewhat distracted most of the time. Yet, we didn’t have any dilemmas or problems within our team. For about a week or two, Louis and Taryn were unable to come to school, so it was just me and Joshua working, but we always found solutions to everything.
We advertised our product exceptionally well, and set up stall neatly. We used the 7 P’s to determine how to attract customers, from spreading the word among the Junior school to picking the best location for our stall.
We raised 30 dollars in total, though I feel we could have made more products and therefore made more profit. Our product sold out quickly, and we had about 9 dollars remaining from our budget, so we could have made more products to sell.
