I recently applied to serve in a ministry at my church in order to give back to my community. I chose to volunteer in the production ministry- which basically deals with the video production, filming and CGI of the weekly church livestreams.
I chose this ministry because I have always been very interested in filming and photography and wanted to not only learn more, but also use my passions to help serve my community. So far my experience has involved being trained to operate the main camera, which not only involves the actual filming, but also communicating with the stage camera operators and the video switcher. I had to do two training sessions before I was left to operate the camera by myself. The experience can be really tiring- as the team starts at 7:30 am and we finish at about 1pm on a Sunday. But in saying that, I really enjoy serving, I’ve made more friends and definitely met a lot more people through this opportunity. I’ve also learnt so much about videography and the behind the scenes of how the production works at my church which has been very interesting.
