This semester in the great bake off we learned how to bake, design, and decorate different cakes with various individualistic designs that made the cake stand out from others. I paired with a partner and we began designing our cake. We made sure to include different techniques and ways that we learned in class. After the planning stage, we baked a caramel mud cake and decorated it with buttercream mixed with Oreos. We smoothed it out and froze the cake. When the icing had hardened we put a chocolate drip on the top, oreo dust on the middle, cream swirls with mini Oreos on the top, and coffee coloured crystals. My partner and I worked in all periods we were given to produce a cake that was well received with good feedback.
We then had a function in the CPA that included all Great-Bake Off classes +1 friend per group. Our cake was served into little bite-sized pieces by older students. This was overall a good experience learning how to bake cakes, design and decorate them. Below are pictures of this experience that we developed.
