I started playing this instrument in the Year 5 instrumental program. First, we went in on a specific day to choose and select what instrument we wanted to play and have a go playing them. I selected the double bass and that meant in Year 5 and going forward, I could play the Double Bass.
Ever since year 5, I have had a lot of fun playing the double bass. I had to be very resilient starting out playing the double bass because I had no idea where any of the notes were and how to play rhythms. I quickly learnt and now I have lots of fun challenging myself with challenging pieces and learning new rhythm patterns.
Double Bass is also fun because I can play it whenever I want to and I could play whatever I feel like playing on it.
At school, I play at the Saints’ String Ensemble. I go there weekly to play and have lots of fun playing my Bass.
