Martial Arts & Leadership 2021

It all started around 4 years ago, I joined a new martial arts club and was nervous about meeting new people, over the next few years I grew stronger relationships with them. I believe it was some ancient greek guy that said, “the strongest bonds are formed in the crucible of battle”. Later that year I was looking for a job to get my career started as soon as possible, I eventually decided on a subway restaurant a block away from my martial arts because I would go there often away after martial arts or between training sessions. A few days later I put together my resume and was getting it polished up, a couple of days later, when I had a bit of time between training sessions at martial arts I was getting it perfect to send it in. The head of my club, Sensei Brie saw me doing this and asked me if I wanted a job here, she gave me a pamphlet with all the employee benefits and pay, so I went to the interview. My relationship with the people hiring me as well as my skills I had demonstrated over the years really helped me. I was hired later that month, quickly I got a new blue instructor robe and a T-shirt with our logo on it to wear underneath. it was a very good day, and I found that I got to work a lot easier with all of these people because I had spent a good chunk of my life working and growing with them already. I even went to a 6-hour leadership seminar to round off my skills. These last 4 years with Life have been amazing and they have helped me develop my leadership, effective communication, and collaboration.
