What were the biggest things you learnt while completing this task? The true risks of drinking and driving and how many fatal crashes are caused by this behaviour, 7.8% of fatal crashes caused by specifically young drink drivers given that there are so many other dangerous behaviours that cause crashed, that it is really shocking that this is such a huge portion of those fatal crashes
What one piece of advice would you pass on to young drivers above all else? drive careful under the most safe circumstances possible, such as driving slowly, drive on familiar roads, drive with friends, don’t touch your phone, and most importantly, don’t drink and drive
Why? because all of these practices drastically reduce the chance of a crash and by extension, it reduces the chance of death and injury.
Write down a pledge that you will commit to when you start driving. keep my eyes and focus on the road Never handle a phone or other electronic device while driving. Avoid driving distractions such as loud music or passengers. Never drive under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or other drugs. Never drive faster than the posted speed limit and follow the rules of the road whenever possible.
Why did you pick these things to commit to? because they are the most likely to keep me safe if I stick to them.
How will you stick to these commitments? keep honest to myself, write it down, and make sure I make it known so when I do start driving, my friends and families can make sure I adhere to it.
